Case study
Half a week of matching every month, cut by around 90%
A finance team was losing roughly half a working week every month to a single reconciliation: matching high volumes of transactions between two systems by hand, line by line, under month-end pressure. Differences surfaced late, and every late find meant rework.
I rebuilt the process as an automated pipeline. The two data sets now load, standardise and match themselves, and an exceptions dashboard surfaces only the items that genuinely need a human decision, ranked by value.
Details are anonymised. The pattern is rebuilt from scratch for every client; no client data or prior employer material is ever reused.

Built by someone who has done this at scale
I am David, an automation specialist based in Bristol. I have spent years building finance and operations automation at serious scale: reconciliation pipelines handling six-figure row counts, reporting packs that assemble and distribute themselves, and Microsoft 365 workflows that keep whole teams in step without anyone chasing.
Spaced Consulting brings that experience to the businesses that need it most: SMEs and finance teams where good people spend hours every week on copy and paste, re-keying and manual checking that a well-built system would simply do for them.
I work with what you already own wherever possible, so there is rarely new software to buy, and when a spreadsheet is the wrong tool altogether I build the simple web tool that replaces it. Questions worth asking
Do we need to buy new software?
Usually not. Most builds run inside the Microsoft 365 and Excel licences you already own. If something genuinely needs a paid connector or extra tool, it is named in the quote before you commit, never discovered afterwards.
Is it just spreadsheets?
No. Spreadsheets are usually where the pain is most visible, so that is where many projects start. The same approach covers the processes around them: moving data between systems, approvals, document generation, dashboards, simple internal tools and even your website, all built around how you work.
How long does a build take?
A Quick Win typically lands within one to two weeks of starting. Pipelines and Reporting Suites take longer and are scheduled with a delivery date agreed in writing before work starts, so you always know when to expect it.
What happens to our data?
The work happens inside your systems, under access you grant and can revoke. Your data stays where it lives now, and I am happy to sign a confidentiality agreement before the audit.
Can you help with our accounts or tax?
No. Spaced Consulting streamlines processes and builds tooling; it is not an accountancy practice and does not give accounting, tax, audit or financial advice. Your accountant stays in charge of that, and I work alongside them when needed.
What if something breaks after handover?
Every build includes a post-launch fix period of 30 to 90 days depending on the tier. After that, a Care Plan keeps it monitored and fixed with priority, or you can simply get back in touch when something changes.
